JAKARTA, 31st May 2025 – Sun Life Indonesia, in collaboration with Beyond Sport, proudly presents the Sun Life Hoops+Health 3X3 Basketball Challenge, a dynamic sports event taking place from May 31 to June 1, 2025, at the Main Atrium of Gandaria City Mall, Jakarta. More than just a basketball competition, this event is part of a long-term commitment to promoting active and healthy lifestyles among Indonesia’s younger generation.
Building on the Sun Life Hoops+Health program launched in 2023 by the partners, the event brings together a diverse group of participants, including celebrities, professional athletes, basketball communities, children, and parents in a collaborative space that celebrates wellness. Through a combination of matches, coaching clinics, and public activations, Sun Life aims to create a lasting, transformative impact on community health and wellness.
The highlight of the event is the 3X3 Celebrity Basketball Match, featuring actor and basketball enthusiast Ibnu Jamil, alongside several public figures known for their advocacy of sports and wellness in Indonesia. In a competitive yet friendly atmosphere, these celebrities will demonstrate that sports are for everyone and offer significant benefits for both body and mind.
“Through Sun Life Hoops+Health, we aim to bring to life Sun Life Indonesia’s long-term commitment to supporting the community in living healthier, more active, and balanced lives. This event is more than just a game—it’s a symbol of our collective movement to expand access to inclusive and educational sports,” said Albertus Wiroyo, President Director of Sun Life Indonesia.
The Sun Life Hoops+Health program has reached over 30 schools and communities in and around Jakarta. By renovating basketball courts, donating sports equipment, training community coaches, and providing fitness and nutrition education, the initiative not only improves infrastructure but also fosters healthier habits at the grassroots level. This year, the program continues to grow by engaging more community partners and expanding public participation.
“I’m thrilled to be part of this event. Through these exciting and energetic games, we want to show that sports are a fun way to encourage healthy habits, strengthen social bonds, and create more positive environments,” said Ibnu Jamil.
Fred Fikouhi-Turner, Executive Director of Beyond Sport, added, “We are honored to continue our collaboration with Sun Life Indonesia. Together, we’re not only improving access to sports, but also shaping a new perspective on how communities can become healthier through active participation. Sun Life Hoops+Health proves that sport for development is not just a concept—it’s a real movement driving meaningful change.”
Over the course of two days, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including 3X3 basketball tournaments, children’s coaching clinics, inspirational talk shows, a sports photography competition, and interactive entertainment zones featuring photo booths and exclusive merchandise. The event also serves as a platform for youth to connect with role models from the worlds of sports and entertainment.
Open to the public and free of charge, the event underscores Sun Life’s commitment to reaching more Indonesian families and encouraging healthy habits through simple, joyful activities—like playing basketball together.
Through the Sun Life Hoops+Health 3X3 Basketball Challenge, Sun Life Indonesia reaffirms its active role as a partner in the nation’s journey toward a healthier and more empowered future. Because behind every game lies a powerful hope: to shape a generation that is stronger, more connected, and healthier—physically, mentally, and socially.
