Thousands of people lost their lives in the earthquake that struck Yogyakarta and Central Java on Saturday, May 27, 2006. The management and agency sales team rushed to the districts on May 30, 2006 to provide relief aid directly to those who needed it in Jetis and Imogiri, as well as in Panembahan Senopati Hospital in Bantul region, Yogyakarta. The relief aid included food, water, tents, medicine, vitamins and other emergency aid.

The Sun Life Financial Foundation has also contributed to rebuilding one of the earthquake-struck public elementary schools located in the Bantul region, Yogyakarta.
