2016

The Brighter Gen Tour D Java

To create the generation of Indonesia #lebihbaik. Sun Life has turned regular classrooms into reader-friendly places in three elementary schools in the cities of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) Klangenan in Cirebon, SD Negeri Semampir I in Kediri, and SD Negeri Purworejo in Yogyakarta. The classrooms are given a selection of books and training on library management. Teachers are provided with training on selecting appropriate reading material for the students and how to engage with students during reading sessions.

Jakarta, 7 September 2016

Sun Life Indonesia and CIMB Sun Life handed over the education facilities in form of library renovation and books to SDN Karet Tengsin 15 in Jakarta. Both of companies also provide the financial literacy program such as fairy tale story telling, life insurance encyclopedia, and game board to the students.

2015

Insurance Goes to Campus - Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, Jakarta

Sun Life Indonesia supported Insurance Goes to Campus that conducted by Indonesia Insurance Council (DAI) and Krida Wacana Christian University (UKRIDA). This program aimed to provide financial literacy education to approximately 40 university lecturers in Jakarta.

2014

As an effort to support OJK in improving the level of Indonesians’ financial literacy rate, Sun Life Indonesia cooperated with Yayasan Bina Karakter Tunas Muda, Financial Planning Standard Boards Indonesia (FPSB Indonesia), and International Labour Organization (ILO) and Bank Indonesia (BI) to conduct financial literacy programs.

Financial Education Program for University Students

As a form of PT Sun Life Financial’s (Sun Life) support towards financial literacy program that designed by Financial Services Authority (OJK), Sun Life partners with Financial Planning Standard Boards Indonesia (FPSB Indonesia) to conduct financial education program for university students in 8 universities in Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. The first phase financial education program will be roll out for 100 students in University of Indonesia.

Sun Bright is a sponsor of CARE for the Nation and for the third time holding an entrepreneurial workshop and financial literacy for high school and vocational high school’s students in several cities in Indonesia such as Lampung, Palembang, and Bandung.

A symbolic handover of 1,000 Al-Quran as our CSR activity in Palembang has been conducted on July 14, 2014 during our new sharia marketing office in Palembang launch. All of the 1,000 copies of Al Quran has been delivered to all recipients in Palembang.

2013

Sun Life to sponsor CARE for the Nation and holding an entrepreneurial workshop and financial literacy for 30,000 high school and vocational high school students in several cities in Indonesia Sun Life has also donated seed money to each students.

Agents and employees of Sun Life Group in Indonesia are holding a fundraising campaign called “It’s Time to Care” for Uplift International, a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the right to health through technical assistance in health, law, and education. Sun Life’s donation will support the expansion of Uplift International’s School Health and Nutrition program by funding the creation of an Organic Vegetable Gardening Activity for 11 underprivileged primary level madrasah (Muslim school) in Jakarta.

Sun Bright partnership with Ciputra University to roll out financial literacy training called ‘Financial Planning for Smart Entrepreneur’ for the university’s students and faculty members. The collaboration between Sun Life and Ciputra University aims to create competitive young Indonesian professionals who are equipped with a strong grounding in financial literacy and reflects the commitment of Sun Life and Ciputra University to support Indonesia’s efforts to enlarge its entrepreneurial base.

2012

Sun Life Group Provides Donation To Two Public Schools

Sun Life Group in Indonesia, which consists of three companies, namely PT Sun Life Financial Indonesia (SLF Indonesia), PT CIMB Sun Life (CIMB Sun Life) and PT Sun Life Indonesia Services (SIS) today handed over symbolically the educational donation to two public elementary schools, namely SDN Karet Tengsin 15 and 16 through library renovations, painted school building, school furniture and sport facilities on December 21, 2012.

This contribution is part of Sun Life’s corporate social responsibility program, which has been active since 2006, focusing on education and health for children and young generations for a better future of Indonesia.

The social contribution aims to support teaching and learning activities for both students and teachers at SDN Karet Tengsin 15 and 16 to create an enjoyable learning experience. We are pleased to contribute to these two schools and hope to continue to improve our social contribution in surrounding areas of our head office in Jakarta.

PT Sun Life Indonesia Teams Up with CARE for the Nation to Enrich Financial Literacy of 40,000 Vocational Schools Students in Indonesia

PT Sun Life Indonesia (Sun Life) is pleased to announce that it is supporting CARE for the Nation, a community program designed to help young people build financial literacy skills. Through the “Champion Teens Care for the Nation 2012” initiative, CARE for the Nation and Sun Life are providing life-training skills that aim to educate and encourage young Indonesians to develop their own micro-businesses.

In Bali, the “Champion Teens Care for the Nation 2012” was officially launched by Bali Deputy Governor AA Puspayoga and Denpasar Mayor IB Rai Dharmawijaya on October 22, 2012. This program was participated by 4,000 vocational school students from across Bali area. This program presented James Gwee, founder of CARE for the Nation and a prominent trainer, and Sesilia Peranginangin, a motivator, who shared the life skills needed to become successful young entrepreneurs.

Sun Life Shares Joy with SOIna

Jakarta, April 19, 2012 – As an appreciation for the agents and leader who have successfully achieved great performance in 2011, PT Sun Life Indonesia (Sun Life) conducted the 19th Annual Awards Night on April 18, 2012. In addition to celebrating the success, Sun Life’s agents and leaders did not forget to share the joy with the society. This time Sun Life’s agents and leaders did fundraising for our brothers and sisters who are who are members of Special Olympics Indonesia (SOIna).

As a manifestation of Sun Life’s concern and compassion towards SOIna members, Sun Life’s agents and leaders conducted a fundraising. Johnson Chai, President Director of Sun Life, gave the collected fund to dr. Pudji Hastuti, MSc, PH, Chair of PP SOIna.

Sun Bright For Education 2011

Realizing the importance of analytical and problem solving skills in the development of well-rounded individuals, PT Sun Life Indonesia (SLF Indonesia) supported the Surya Institute – an organization that aims to reform the way science and mathematics are taught in Indonesia by carrying out a math-teaching program that is easy, fun, and entertaining (Gampang, Asyik, Menyenangkan / GASING).

The GASING method, which is systematic and easy to pass on, is a teaching method that is highly effective and sustainable. We believe that SLF Indonesia’s partnership with Surya Institute in GASING will have a wider impact on improving the quality of training and education in Indonesia.

SLF Indonesia’s partnership with Surya Institute through GASING is part of Sun Life’s series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities called Sun Bright, which aims to improve the quality of education by providing good education facilities and opportunity.

Through this partnership, Sun Life supported the GASING training which was held on July 4-6, 2011 in Yogyakarta. The company’s support, in the form of 300 sets of books amounting Rp 150,000,000 (US$ 17,500), targeted 300 tutors and is expected to reach 3,000 students.

Since 2006, Sun Bright has provided various supports – including scholarships, public lectures on insurance and educational facilities – to a number of elementary schools and higher education institutions in Bandung, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Bali, and Medan.

Sun Bright For Education 2010

Throughout 2010, PT Sun Life Indonesia (SLF Indonesia) has made a donation in the form of educational support facilities including library books and text book, computers, music equipments and sports gears to six state elementary schools in six major cities in Indonesia including Bandung, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar and Medan.

Beside, SLF Indonesia also provided scholarships to 62 students in six state university at similar cities. The total value of donation and scholarships in 2010 reached Rp 398 million (Three hundred ninety eight million rupiah).

SLF Indonesia has been actively donating in the country since 2006 through its corporate social responsibility program titled Sun Bright. Education is the key focus of the program, and Sun Bright has already helped to improve education for thousands of children from elementary school to university level in several major cities throughout Indonesia, including Bandung, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar and Medan.

Sun Bright for Padang Earthquake and Education 2009

During 2009, PT Sun Life Group Indonesia was committed in promoting the education quality for the Indonesian society through its corporate social responsibility titled Sun Bright. PT Sun Life Group Indonesia made a donation for SDN 10 Ganting, a school which was impacted from the earthquake in Padang. The donation came from a fundraising among its staff, where the company had successfully gathered a sum of IDR 80 millions (eighty million rupiah) through education facilities such as computers, television, DVD player, infocus, music instruments, sport facilities and library books.

Moreover, we have consistently maintained as a helping hand by contributing education facilities at selected elementary schools and university scholarships throughout the year in six major cities in Indonesia namely Medan, Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Bali.

Sun Bright for Education 2008

This year our employees and agencies donated books and towards a cash fund for those in need. Ibu Vivien Kusumowardhani from the SIKIB office in the Taman Ria Senayan area represented PT SLF Indonesia in giving the donations to Ibu Okke Hatta Radjasa, the operational chief committee of SIKIB. The donations were witnessed by other committees such as Ibu Maftuh Basyuni and Ibu Kusmayanto Kadiman. Thank you to all who contributed for supporting the Sun Bright program of PT SLF Indonesia for the Indonesia Pintar program.

PT Sun Life Indonesia conducted its yearly program - Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Sun Bright, between June and July, 2008. This year, the program donated tables, chairs, cupboards, library books and computers to government elementary schools in six cities, namely Medan, Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Bali.

We also gave scholarships to 62 university students at the University of North Sumatera, University of Indonesia, University of Padjadjaran, University of Gadjah Mada, University of Airlangga and University of Udayana. The total contribution of the donations was about Rp 300 million.

On July 3, 2008, PT Sun Life Indonesia, through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme Sun Bright, donated three motorcycles and hundreds of books to the Indonesia Pintar programme at Solidaritas Isteri Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu (SIKIB).

Sun Bright for Yogyakarta earthquake and Education in 2007

On 14th March, 2007, PT. Sun Life Indonesia and Bantul Major Idham Samawi signed the inauguration plague of SDN Sudimoro. In keeping with our promise of providing better and improved education for the community, the school reconstruction is part of a CDN$ 75,000 donation from Sun Life Financial Inc. to support the Yogyakarta earthquake relief efforts. Last year, our employees and agents also donated books and library shelves through the corporate bank account of the Yogya relief fund.

Sun Bright for Education in 2006

In July and August, 2006, PT. Sun Life Indonesia conducted Sun Bright activities in Surabaya, Medan and Jakarta as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility program. Sun Bright donated 1,100 text books and library books to public elementary schools and sponsored scholarships for public university students in these three cities.
